Faith, "the assurance of things hoped for; the conviction of things unseen". It is easy to lose hope, to doubt, to trust. Our purpose is in the form of visions, small little visions which guide us.
When I first began painting I did it as a means of coping with life and the perceived challenges at the time. I hadn't painted a day in life yet when my doctor asked how I was going to navigate the depression I was experiencing, I simply replied “I'm going to paint”. I had so many doubts about life, yet this one thing I didn't even think to question, if I'd be any good at it, or even if I could, I just knew, without a doubt that I had to. Somehow, I just knew it would help.
The road of trying times is often paved with new experiences, often leading us to self discovery. Faith is this creative experience. It isn't always easy as I’ve been faced with many scenarios that often have me questioning if I want to keep on pursuing it or not. Though I’ve learned much through the process, both creatively and personally there are those times where I lack faith. I am given a vision, I know what my next step should be yet doubt kicks in and I start reconsidering the plan, then I have to remind myself of Unwavering Faith.
A jellyfish has no navigation system, they rely solely on the current. They are constantly flowing, with whatever life bestows upon them. That is how we should aim to tread through life. It doesn't mean to be reckless or thoughtless in our journey. It is to trust the process and have faith in ourselves and the path we choose. To know that the visions we are presented with are a guide, trusting your instinct and flowing cohesively with that which feels peaceful. To know that there is no failing when trying. All roads, when traveled in faith, lead to our best selves.
